Bonnie Erbe is an Ass.

Erin Andrews

During my pathetic excuse for a lunch, I noticed Fang from FangBites posted a link to an opinion piece written by US News blogger, Bonnie Erbe. Bonnie, who’s penned such thought provoking pieces such as Bacon: Weapon of Mass Destruction, feels that woman should remove themselves from the sports world because we’re just encouraging bad behavior in men.

Once again, we can blame vaginas for being the root of all evil. My initial response to Ms. Erbe’s piece was she’s a moron and as a woman, I was offended that she would take such a cheap shot. Now, I could mock her and her smug smirk and Lucy Van Pelt hair cut. But why take the easy way out? I have the space here, so why not attempt to be mature and explain my reasoning behind calling her a moron. These attempts made by me to be moderately intelligent are few and far between, so strap in folks!

I don’t know what games, Ms. Erbe is going to or watching (since she neglected to give any examples. Then again, why would you want to support your theory?) – but the ones I’ve been to over the years and most recently, have been they’re actually quite tame. Ok, so the cheerleaders or dancers might show some skin and yes, I’ve seen a few fights break out during a game in my day. But other than that, the sports world is actually very family friendly. Some might say too family friendly. I mean, the Washington Nationals have a Build-a-Bear in their ball park, fans have been removed for wearing ‘Yankee Sucks’ t-shirts, and I know this is might come as a shocker, but I was once told to watch my language by a security guard at a basketball game. I didn’t know calling Kobe Bryant an ‘ass’ was that offensive. It’s not like I called him a rapist.

To say women should stop going, participating or promoting sports is ridiculous and blaming Ms. Andrew’s incident solely on sports is wrong too. Let’s face it; men were acting like asses well before Walter Camp invented football and before Dr. J slam dunked a ball and men have probably been objectifying women since the day of the caveman and I’m sure Erin Andrews won’t be the last.

What happened to Erin Andrews was an extremely unfortunate incident and she by no means, asked for it because of her choice of profession. If anything, this should be a time for women to be sticking together and supporting each other and not ganging up on each other and telling us we have no one to blame but ourselves.

But why would we want to do a thing like that?

As usual, you have hit the nail on the head. It’s sad when things like this come up, we tend to point the finger of blame at the wrong people.

I am like, too pissed at Erbe to form a coherent and well-thought response.

I know the feeling. Her stalker feels professional jealousy, resentment and the ” if I can’t have her I will hurt her evil mind”. I know all too well. My own response: I enrolled in Law School. My stalker devalued my personhood, attempted to invalidate my credentials, and put up doctored emails . From one point of view, he tried that woe is me , feel sorry for me tactic, he is pompous and ignorant..he is sick. They begin this harassment and stay on it until they are locked up or locked down. I intend to fight back. I don’t need a male lawyer who secretly would enjoy the pain we endure and I don’t need a female lawyer who hates her own sisters. I will deal with it. You will survive this too Erin,
