Tickets for Cuts for a Cause On Sale NOW!

"I thought they were only going to take a little off the top?"

Tickets are on sale for 3rd annual Cuts for a Cause(don’t believe what the site says – it’s the 3rd one). Toucher & Rich from 98.5 The Sports Hub join up with the Bruins and shed some hair for a great cause.  All of the money raised goes to the Mass General Hospital for Children and will benefit pediatric cancer research

This year’s event is will be @ Ned Devines on March 31st and it’s a blast.  Don’t believe me? Here’s the link to my pictures from last year’s event to get you excited. It’s a great chance to meet the players, make fun of Adolfo(which is always a good time) and raise money for a great cause. Toucher & Rich should have the info on how to bid for the chance to shave someone’s head soon! Tickets are just $10 and you can purchase them by calling 617-746-5140.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make this year. I’ll be still in the hospital, so take tons of pictures for moi.  Oh yeah, if someone wants to make a “Where’s Cameron?” sign and take pictures of the players holding it & get it signed for moi – I’ll be your best friend! haha

If you don’t go, Freddy T will be sad.

Matt Cooke Won’t Fight Shawn Thornton

Well, folks – tonight’s the night. It’s been 11 days since Matt Cooke’s cheap shot on Marc Savard and the Pittsburgh Penguins will take on the Boston Bruins at the TD Garden.  All eyes are on Boston. It’s only fitting that today was Shawn Thornton’s weekly appearance on Toucher & Rich on 98.5 The Sports Hub this morning.

Thornton said he was well aware that the world was watching tonight and was asked what he thought about the whole situation. “If he was suspended a couple games – it would probably be over.”

The radio hosts mentioned that NHL Disciplinarian, Colin Campbell, will be present for tonight’s game and plans on  speaking to both teams prior to the game.

“I hope it’s a 2-way conversation.”

The  players on both teams should be allowed to speak their mind with Campbell and if they don’t feel comfortable speaking to him in a group setting, there should be an opportunity to speak their minds privately. We’ve all seen the effects concussions have on people. Thornton mentioned that one his best friends had to retire from the game because of concussions.

Pretty much every Bruins fan out there wants Cooke’s head and is expecting his blood on the ice at some point in the game. Fred Toucher asked if Cooke would fight, Thornton responded, “Depends on who it is.” Thornton went on to talk about Cooke’s history of turtling when he knew he couldn’t win.

Toucher followed that question up by asking Shawn if Matt Cooke would fight him. “No.”  Classy. Matt Cooke is a puss.

Mike Wendt(DJ/Bruins Blogger) posted this video earlier this morning and for those of you who need to be reminded on how much of a scumbag Matt Cooke is, I recommend you watch it.

Video c/o Hockey Web Cast – amazing work, guys!

If you want to hear the entire Thornton interview, head on over to the Toucher & Rich section of 98.5 The Sports Hub – it should be up later on today. *EDIT* Here’s today’s podcast featuring the interview with Shawn Thornton.

Which one is Scalabrine again?

In case you were wondering which guy on the Celtics was the red-headed, white boy - Modell’s sports wanted to remind you.

One of these things is not the same.....

Subtle, isn’t it? By the way, don’t forgot to vote for Brian Scalabrine during All Star voting. Toucher & Rich on 98.5 The Sports Hub are trying to get Scal 250, 00 votes. Let’s see if we can get him a trip to Dallas.

BREAKING NEWS: Shawn Thornton Doesn’t Like Phil Kessel…Duh?

"Kessel sucks and Bitz is dead to me!"

 ”…..I don’t like him.”

Shawn Thornton  stated the obvious this morning on the Toucher  & Rich  morning show and  admitted he wasn’t the biggest fan of Phil Kessel.  ”I don’t know if we’re better off without him, but I know he wasn’t the best fit.” Granted it took some prodding from the T&R, but it was nice to finally hear it. After discussing the team’s dynamic with & without Kessel, Thornton talked about the crowd’s reaction to Phil the Thrill’s return on Saturday night. “I hope he didn’t come here thinking he was going to get cheered whenever touched the puck.” He mentioned that there are some players who love getting the hate from the crowd, but from the looks of it, Phil isn’t one of them. Pitty. Not really.

Phil Kessel isn’t the only one on Thornton’s shit list. Thornton is evidently still a tad bitter that his former linemate, Byron Bitzleft him for the glamorous first line. “I don’t know anyone by the name Byron Bitz…”   You can hear the entire interview on the Toucher & Rich podcast (fast forward to 26:10 for the interveiw) on 98.5 The Sports Hub.

“A Sore Vagina”

I need Midol & Massengill - PRONTO!

I need Midol & Massengill - PRONTO!

Boston Bruin, Shawn Thornton, made the major announcement on the Toucher & Rich Show on 98.5 The Sports Hub this morning. Thornton told  T&R he didn’t play last night due to  ‘a sore vagina’. Someone must be suffering from that not so fresh feeling. Poor lad. Here’s to hoping for a speedy recovery.

T&R also talked to Shawn about Marc Savard’s horrible taste in clothing. Like this outfit I caught him wearing on the deadline special last year on NESN.

Old Man Aaron Ward is going back to where he won a cup with in 2006.  The now former Bruin(ouch), Aaron Ward, was traded back to the Carolina Hurricanes for right-wing Patrick Eaves(already placed on waivers) and a fourth round pick in the 2010 NHL Draft.

I understand they’re doing it to clear cap space and it’s just business, but I’m still bummed. I liked Ward, he was a good team guy. Oh well. Looks like Toucher & Rich will be looking for a new Wednesday segment.

So if you were in the B’s position, what would you do? Do you re-sign Kessel or go after another defenseman? It’s about to get a little more interesting on Causeway Street.

Bye Bye, BCN

The radio station that helped introduced U2 and The Police to the world, is supposedly signing off for good. Word on the street or in The Sandbox at least,  is that WBCN will start broadcasting MIX 98.5 on their frequency and 98.5 will turn into The Sports Hub.  Because that’s what Boston needs, another sports station. Well, at least it’ll be a sports station I can actually tune into without forming a tinfoil tower and if The Sports Hub need a blogger for the station – call me! I work for cheap.

‘BCN is(well, was) legendary and it’s been a staple here, for what seems like forever. Before I had good taste in music and I was too young to know better, I listened to ‘BCN. When I was an angry pink haired young girl who loved Korn and thought Fred Durst was the shit(Stop it! You know you all still have ’3 dollah bill, y’all’!), I listed to ‘BCN. They introduce me to Hoo Hoo Howard,  was a temporary home for Opie & Anthony(who’s antics seem tame compared to pedo, Mark Parenteau, shenanigans. Yeesh!) and even Bono expressed his love for the station that helped introduce them to the US.

So if WBCN is slowly going the way of the buffalo, I’ll be bummed to see it go. It was something I kinda expected to be around forever. Toucher & Rich(Who I do enjoy listening too sometimes, especially when Freddy T is having a classic melt down of epic proportions) are supposed to be joining The Sports Hub and that will leave rest of the on-air staff of The Boston Concert Network looking for a job. Adolfo Gonzalez has a job and Adam 12 doesn’t? That seriously doesn’t sound fair – but what can you do?

So thank you, WBCN for everything – we’ll definitely miss you in Boston.

EDIT: The switch will happen in August and WBCN will be an online station. More info here.

Boston Bruins Cuts For A Cause

Boston Bruins Cuts For Cause 2009 003

Myself and Kat from SportsGirlKat.com decided to play hookey this afternoon and check out Aaron Ward's second annual, Cut's for a Cause. The turn out was great and we were lucky enough to snag the last two seats. Everyone from Aaron Ward, his teammates, The Bruins Organization & WBCN's Toucher & Rich should be commended and should have lots of good karma coming their way.

I took tons of pictures and for the record, some look better with a shaved head than others….all of the pictures are here!

BUY! SELL! TRADE! Trade Deadline Post & Aaron Ward Poster

Stock traders

First off some personal business, if someone got an Aaron Ward poster last night and doesn't want it – feel free to contact me and I'll barter with you for it.

WHOPPEEE!!! IT'S NHL TRADE DEADLINE DAY!!!!!  I'm sorry, but after last night's piss poor play by the B's – I'm exercising the right to change my original prediction. They need to do something, because THAT can't happen again. I understand they're hurt, tired, rundown and that does put a damper on the team's spirit – but they made complete douches of themselves last night. So here's to hoping something good happens today and whatever it is, it kicks the B's in the ass and get them back on their winning ways. I mean, they do want to win – right? Unless I didn't get a memo and things changed….

Everyone under the sun will be donig their NHL Trade Deadline Coverage today. Toucher & Rich favorite, HubHockey.com will have constant updates on what's going on, Puck Daddy will be live blogging all day and using The Millbury Scale to grade trades, Stanley Cup of Chowder has an open thread with constant updates, Alanah and the Krew @ KulkasKorner are constantly up dating any moves, NESN's Trade Deadline Special stars @ 2:30 and I'll be keeping you up to date with anything I think is important. Like Sean Avery is back in Ranger Blue and will be taking the ice tomorrow night!

“There’s a reason they’re on tv and not running a team…”

Aaron ward Recommended listening for this evening, Bruins' defense man, stylish man about town, occasional drunk dialer and lover of Buffalo Betties, Aaron Ward, made his regular appearance on Toucher & Rich this morning and had few choice words for NESN commentator, Mike Millbury.

Could Aaron Ward be the smartest man in hockey? Sources seem to be pointing to yes. You decided. You can check it out here.
